Hot Water Repairs in Logan

No hot water? Not hot enough? Leaking, noisy, or tripping the switch? Advance Hotwater diagnoses hot water faults, then tells you plainly what the options are.

Finding the actual fault comes first

A hot water system that has stopped working isn’t one problem — it’s a dozen possible problems that all look the same from the shower. An electric system with no hot water might have a failed element, a tripped thermostat, a problem at the switchboard or a tank that has finally given up. Those are four very different conversations and four very different costs.

So the first job is always diagnosis. We look at the system, check what it’s actually doing, and work out where the fault sits before anyone talks about parts or replacement.

Every common system type

Advance Hotwater works across electric storage, gas storage, gas continuous flow, solar and heat pump systems, regardless of who installed them. Dux systems come up regularly, and so do most of the other brands you’ll find in Logan homes.

Because hot water is the entire focus of the business, the service vehicle carries a wide range of commonly needed hot water parts. That helps with diagnosing a fault properly, and where the part needed is one we carry, the repair gets done on the spot.

What we do

Hot water repairs

Fault diagnosis

Working out what has failed, instead of guessing from the symptom. This is the part that determines everything else.

Component replacement

Elements, thermostats, relief and tempering valves, gas ignition components, solar controllers, sensors and circulation parts.

Leak investigation

Establishing whether the water is coming from a fitting, a valve, or from the tank itself — because those mean very different things.

Repair or replace advice

A clear read on whether the repair is worth doing on a system of that age and condition, so you can make the call with the facts.

Common faults

What usually goes wrong

These are the symptoms we hear about most often. A good starting point for the call.

  • No hot water at all
  • Water lukewarm or not hot enough
  • Water too hot or fluctuating
  • Leaking from the unit or its valves
  • Banging, rumbling or kettling noises
  • Hot water runs out much faster than it used to
  • Safety switch tripping when the system heats
  • Discoloured or rusty hot water

Please don’t troubleshoot it yourself. Hot water systems combine electricity, gas, stored pressure and water hot enough to scald. If something looks, smells or sounds wrong, turn it off if it’s safe to do so and call (07) 3801 2155.

The honest bit

We’d rather fix it than sell you a new one — when that’s the right answer

Plenty of hot water faults come down to a component. Elements fail. Thermostats drift. Valves weep. Solar controllers stop talking to the pump. Those are repairs, and on a system with life left in it, a repair is usually the sensible choice.

But a repair isn’t always the right answer. If the tank itself has corroded through, or parts for the model are no longer available, or the repair bill is climbing towards the cost of a new system on a unit that’s already old, you deserve to hear that before you spend the money.

That balance is what customers mention most often in the Google reviews.

Questions we’ll ask on the phone

  • Is it electric, gas, solar or a heat pump?
  • Roughly how old is the system?
  • Brand and model, if you can read the data plate
  • Is there no hot water at all, or just not enough?
  • Any water where it shouldn’t be?
  • Has anything changed recently — power, gas, plumbing work?

Text a photo of the unit and its data plate to 0400 703 001 — it helps Darren work out what he’s dealing with before you speak.

FAQs

Common questions

How quickly can you get to a hot water repair?
It depends on the day and where you’re. Call (07) 3801 2155 and we’ll tell you what we can do.
Is it worth repairing an old hot water system?
Sometimes. It comes down to what has failed, how old the unit is and what condition the tank is in. A cheap component on an otherwise sound system is usually worth doing. A significant repair on a system already near the end of its service life often isn’t. We’ll give you our read on it.
Do you carry parts with you?
The service vehicle carries a wide range of commonly required hot water parts, which helps with both diagnosis and repair. Some less common parts need ordering in — we’ll tell you if that’s the case.
My system is leaking. What should I do right now?
If it’s safe to reach, turn off the water supply to the system and switch off the power or gas at the isolation point, then call us. Don’t try to tighten or dismantle anything on a hot, pressurised system.
Can you tell me what’s wrong over the phone?
We can often narrow it down, and a photo of the unit and its data plate texted to 0400 703 001 helps. An accurate diagnosis still needs someone looking at the system.
